Roger Dale Sanspree, 73, stands accused of multiple felonies after authorities investigated years of alleged sexual abuse in Cantonment. He was booked into the Escambia County Jail this week on charges that span two different age groups of victims.

The case originated in September 2026 when the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office received a report that Sanspree had engaged in unlawful sexual contact with a female juvenile relative. Investigators from that office conducted a forensic interview at the Santa Rosa Kids House. The victim, who was 14 years old at the time of that interview, confirmed the allegations. The Santa Rosa team later transferred the case to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit after determining the primary incidents occurred at a Cantonment address.

According to the arrest report, the alleged abuse took place over multiple years, mostly while the victim was visiting that residence. Sanspree is charged with two counts of sexual battery by a person in a position of familial or custodial authority. One count involves a victim under 12, and the other involves a victim between 12 and 18. He also faces two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation for victims under 12 and between 12 and 16.

Detectives gathered statements, recorded interviews, and written correspondence during the probe. The report notes that Sanspree acknowledged engaging in unlawful physical contact with the youth in those documents.

Sanspree is currently held at the Escambia County Jail without bond.
