At least four people were killed in three separate shootings that occurred in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas, between midnight and 1:30 a.m. early Sunday.

Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux confirmed the death toll and reported that 15 other people were injured across the three locations. He stated that investigators were still determining whether the incidents were connected.

Comeaux said detectives were working to understand the events at each scene. He noted that police had no information linking the shootings at that time but continued the investigation to figure out any connections.

The Dallas Morning News reported that four people were killed across two locations, while at least six others were wounded at a third site. Police had not released details about the causes of the shootings or publicly identified any suspects prior to Sunday morning.

Officers arrested at least one person in connection with one of the incidents. Comeaux said investigators were interviewing individuals in custody and witnesses to determine how the shootings tied together. He emphasized that police were trying to figure out exactly how the arrests related to all three shootings.

The police chief praised the department's response to the violence. He said Dallas Police increased their presence in the Deep Ellum entertainment district on Saturday night in anticipation of Halloween crowds. One officer provided lifesaving care to an injured person and revived them, according to Comeaux.

Comeaux stated that officers were less than two blocks away when they heard gunfire and ran immediately toward the scene. He said that having officers on the scene quickly helped prevent more chaos from continuing.

The chief urged the public to share any video or photos from the Halloween night events with Dallas Police. He said investigators were already receiving information but needed additional evidence to establish what happened at each location. He expressed confidence that someone had captured the proper footage on video.

The Halloween shootings mark at least the fourth incident this year where multiple people were injured by gunfire in the entertainment district. Two people were shot along Canton Street on Aug. 14, and a man was arrested after shooting three people along Elm Street on Aug. 23. Five people were injured during Cinco de Mayo celebrations along Commerce Street in the spring.
