Sportsman's Warehouse closing soon as Nordstrom Rack moves into Seminole

Construction bidding documents show that EMJ Construction is the general contractor for the renovation of the former Sportsman's Warehouse location at 7967 113th Street North. The project will convert the 32,914-square-foot space into a Nordstrom Rack store.

Sportsman's Warehouse will close on January 11, 2027. The store is currently selling merchandise at a 25% discount, though guns, ammunition, and optics are excluded from the sale. The outdoor retailer opened in September 2022, making this closure less than four years after its launch.

The renovation plans include new interior finishes, partitions, and fixtures. The work covers electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, as well as employee offices and stock storage areas. Exterior updates will add canopies above the entrance and exit points.

Nordstrom Rack is the off-price division of Nordstrom, which sells apparel, shoes, accessories, beauty products, and home decor. The store offers items at advertised discounts of up to 70%. Merchandise comes from Nordstrom's full-line stores and website, or is purchased specifically for the Rack.

The chain started in 1973 as a clearance outlet in the basement of the downtown Seattle Nordstrom. Nordstrom has served Tampa Bay since 2001, opening a full-line store at International Plaza. The first local Rack opened at Walters Crossing in 2010, followed by a Brandon location in 2014 and a Clearwater store in a former Sears Auto Center.

The new store will join other tenants at Seminole City Center, including The Fresh Market, HomeGoods, LA Fitness, and Ulta Beauty. The center recently added Beach Pizza at 7724 113th Street North. Pepe's Cantina is preparing to open at 7756 113th Street North in the former Maple Street Biscuit Company space.

Shake Shack is also coming to the center, taking over the Pieology Pizzeria space at 1165 Park Boulevard. An opening date for the Seminole Nordstrom Rack has not yet been announced.
