A Miami-Dade jeweler says he was beaten and robbed in his home by armed men who stole approximately $900,000 worth of merchandise. The incident occurred Monday, Nov. 2, around 10:30 p.m., in a residence on 177th Street in the county's northwest sector.

Alain Guevara Hernandez, who operates a jewelry business from his home, stated that the attack began when a familiar customer arrived claiming interest in a Cartier watch. Guevara said the man pulled a pistol and aimed it at him. As Guevara moved toward the door to exit, four other individuals emerged from hiding spots near the entrance.

"When he is inside he takes out a pistol and right there he aims at me. I go back and when I am going out through the door, there were four more coming with him," Guevara said.

Guevara told Telemundo 51 that the group threw him to the ground and struck him repeatedly. He reported suffering injuries to his head, eyes, and feet. The jeweler displayed wounds on his face and head that required surgical stitches. One attacker reportedly fired near his foot, though Guevara did not say he was hit by a bullet.

Surveillance footage obtained by the news outlet shows at least four hooded men entering the home. In one clip, a man holding a long gun points it toward two women. The recordings capture the sound of screaming and the robbers demanding money.

While Guevara was being assaulted, the other men searched the rooms. Security video shows Guevara's wife and 21-year-old stepdaughter with their hands raised, crying, while one robber aimed a long gun at them. Guevara confirmed that the attackers directly threatened both women.

Guevara estimates the thieves took about 60 watches, between 50 and 70 chains, numerous bracelets, jewelry cases, and safe boxes. He has sold goods from his residence for years, often during late-night hours, because he preferred the convenience of the location.

"I was gaining trust and selling more, and I adapted to the comfort of the house because I am a person who sells at all hours," he said.

The Miami-Dade Police Department confirmed responding to a residential burglary report. Officers found an injured adult male at the scene. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported him to a hospital in stable condition. Two adult women were also in the home and were not injured.

The MDSO Burglary Unit is leading the investigation. Authorities have not publicly confirmed the total value of the stolen items or announced arrests. Guevara has provided investigators with footage showing the primary suspect with his face uncovered. He plans to open a dedicated retail store with enhanced security measures and has asked the suspect to turn himself in.
