Ontario residents can now access government digital IDs on their smartphones as of Wednesday, Oct. 28. The province introduced the feature to strengthen digital security and give citizens more options for identification. Officials state the new system will not replace physical cards but will serve as an additional tool for residents.

The launch coincides with results from Monday's municipal elections. Several mayors lost their seats across the province. One of the notable outcomes was a career-ending defeat for Canada's longest-serving mayor. The changes alter the political makeup of several local governments, including Milton, Mississauga, and Hamilton.

Motorists are also seeing shifts in fuel costs. An Ontario gasoline expert advised drivers to wait until Thursday to fill their tanks. Prices for both gas and diesel are expected to drop further this week. This timing offers a lower-cost window for commuters and truck drivers.

In the retail sector, Loblaw is expanding its No Frills discount stores in Ontario. The company, which is Canada's largest grocery retailer, is opening more locations to attract bargain-seeking shoppers. The expansion continues the chain's strategy of increasing its presence in the lower-cost grocery market.

For those seeking local recreation, the Mount Nemo lookout in Burlington offers a scenic view. The site is located on an escarpment park less than an hour from Toronto. From the top, visitors can see more than 50 kilometres into the distance. The vantage point provides a clear line of sight to the CN Tower.
