The Angry Birds Movie 3 will open in theaters on December 23, according to a newly released trailer. The film marks the first entry in the franchise distributed by Paramount Pictures. Previous installments were released by Sony Pictures and have generated more than 500 million dollars in global box office revenue.

Jason Sudeikis returns to voice Red, the red-feathered protagonist. A trailer released on Wednesday shows the character attempting to balance his role as a father with his duty to protect his island home. In one scene, Red declares it is time to suit up and save the world as a family. He rallies his partner Silver, voiced by Rachel Bloom, and their children for an impending adventure.

The family unit includes Glider, voiced by Walker Scobell, June, voiced by Emma Myers, Olly, voiced by Psalm West, and their pet Fuzzy, voiced by James Austin Johnson. The trailer depicts Red organizing a pasta party to prepare the household for the mission ahead. A moment of domestic tension occurs when Red asks Silver to tell their daughter to be less gross at the table before the family sets out.

Josh Gad and Danny McBride also return to voice Chuck and Bomb, respectively. The core conflict remains the arrival of a group of mysterious green pigs that threaten the island. This narrative blend of domestic humor and high-stakes action continues the storyline established in the 2016 original and the 2019 sequel.

The new cast includes Marcello Hernández, Tim Robinson, Lily James, Keke Palmer, Anna Cathcart, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Nikki Glaser, MrBeast, Salish Matter, and Sam Richardson. John Rice serves as director, while Thurop Van Orman wrote the screenplay. The production team includes John Cohen, Dan Chuba, Carla Connor, and Namit Malhotra.

Rovio Entertainment, a subsidiary of Sega, developed the video game franchise that serves as the basis for the films. Several production companies are credited for the project, including One Cool Group, Dentsu Entertainment, Flywheel Entertainment, Prime Focus Studios, and John Cohen Production. The franchise originated in May 2016 with a story about flightless birds on an island dealing with the arrival of pigs.
