Blake Emory has installed a new entrance artwork at Stage 201 in Plant City, Florida. The project marks the return of the painter, sculptor, and filmmaker to the town where he grew up. His work is currently on permanent display in history museums in Florida and New Mexico.

The installation transforms the front of the venue with two life-size relief sculptures finished in bronze. These figures flank the entrance doors. One sculpture depicts a pizza chef mid-toss, with one hand raised toward the dough. The other shows a saxophonist wearing a hat and suit, leaning into his instrument. Painted facade work completes the composition, including a flame band along the base of the wall and hand-lettered signage across the building's front.

Emory designed the pairing to reflect the venue's dual identity. Stage 201 operates as both a performance space and a pizza restaurant. Its facade identifies it as “Performance Pizzas @ Stage 201.” The chef represents the kitchen, while the saxophonist represents the stage.

The artist collaborated with Frank Trunzo on the project. Trunzo is an international auctioneer who owns and operates Stage 201, as well as Krazy Kup coffee in Plant City. The collaboration combined the vision of an artist returning home with the operations of a local venue owner.

The resulting entrance serves as a landmark for the building. The artwork is visible from the street before visitors enter the venue. This design choice integrates the art directly into the daily experience of the location.

The City of Plant City also announced a temporary closure of Charlie Griffin Road at the intersection with James L. Redman Parkway. The closure is scheduled to begin on November 5, 2026. It was originally planned for October 25 but was delayed to resolve utility concerns.

The road will be closed for approximately 14 days. Northbound and southbound lanes on James L. Redman Parkway will remain open to traffic. Motorists traveling on Charlie Griffin Road are advised to plan alternate routes. The city encourages drivers to use caution and watch for posted traffic control devices in the area.

Additionally, the City of Plant City and the Plant City Running Club will host the 10th Annual Cinnamon Roll 5K Run on Thanksgiving morning. The race is scheduled for 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 26, 2026, starting at Ellis Methvin Park. Proceeds from the event will benefit the City of Plant City Parks and Recreation Department. Registration closes on Friday, November 20, 2026.
