Anthropic filed for an initial public offering on Monday, targeting a Nasdaq listing under the ticker symbol ANT. The company aims to raise up to $100 billion US, a figure that would surpass the $86 billion raised by SpaceX in June.

The filing positions the San Francisco-based firm for a Wall Street debut next month. This move would allow Anthropic to go public before its primary rival, OpenAI, in a series of high-value stock offerings for leading AI labs.

The 335-page document outlines the company's financials for the first half of 2026. Anthropic reported a net loss of $80.7 billion US. This figure represents a substantial increase from the $13 billion US loss recorded in the same period of 2025. While revenue is growing, the company has not yet achieved profitability.

Private investors valued Anthropic at $965 billion US earlier this year. Reports suggest the company's valuation could rise to between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion upon listing. At the lower estimate, the company would rank among the most valuable public firms globally, comparable to Tesla.

The offering presents a significant wealth event for the founders. CEO Dario Amodei and his sister and co-founder Daniela are expected to see their personal wealth increase by billions of dollars if the valuation targets are met. The five-year-old startup would join the upper echelon of market capitalizations.

The IPO filing arrives weeks after Dario Amodei published an essay advocating for a slowdown in the development of the most advanced AI models. The document notes that the final valuation and offering price remain undetermined.

The company will list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market. The filing does not specify the exact number of shares to be sold, leaving the final amount raised as an open variable for investors and the public market.
