The University of Miami Hurricane Productions named rapper NLE Choppa as the headliner for the 2026 Homecoming concert, ending a weeks-long buildup of suspense among the student body. The announcement took place on the evening of October 29 at Lakeside Patio, where a crowd of students waited for the official reveal.
At 6:30 p.m., members of Hurricane Productions dropped a flyer from the third-floor terrace of the Donna E. Shalala Student Center. Smoke machines amplified the moment as the banner landed, displaying Choppa’s image and prompting cheers from the gathered students. Prior to the drop, the production team released three clues on Instagram to guide students toward the correct answer.
The first clue referenced a jackpot, alluding to the artist turning down a three million dollar deal. The second clue identified Memphis, Tennessee, as the performer’s hometown and noted that he played high school basketball. The final clue utilized the song Camelot as a direct hint. Georgina Paez, a junior studying media management, stated that she guessed the artist from the hints and had already secured her ticket.
Following the reveal, students moved to the Rat for a listening party where tracks such as Shotta Flow, Walk Em Down, and DO IT AGAIN played. Jake Sperling, the marketing coordinator for HP Live, expressed excitement about bringing the artist to campus. He described the view from the third floor as the banner dropped as an awesome moment. Trinity Vodovoz, the program lead for HP Live, instructed students to claim their tickets through an email sent to their UM accounts.
The concert follows a recent lineup that has included A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Olivia O'Brien, Quavo, 21 Savage, Flo Rida, and Marshmello. The event is scheduled for November 11 at the Watsco Center. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the performance beginning at 8 p.m. Entry requires a valid Cane Card.
Tickets are free for all UM students and are available for request via Ticketmaster. The production team will also distribute tickets in the breezeway in the days leading up to the show. There are 1,500 floor seats available on a first-come, first-served basis. An email confirming the free giveaway was sent to all students on the morning of October 29.
